Jeffrey Robinson, also known as ‘Brother Banzai’ on the SBG Sword Forum, has established himself over the years as one of, if not THE premier artisan for creating original, premium quality bronze sword fittings and making his own high quality blades from 1075, 1095, 1080, 80CrV2 or pattern welded high carbon steel.
Starting work with bronze in 2000, Jeffrey started making his own swords in 2008 – in his own words:
“My original interest was in making sword parts but after making a few hilt pieces for existing blades, I transitioned into figurative sculpting. I was a sculptor for a number of years but then eventually got into making my own blades and selling complete swords around 2008. I still do the occasional sculptural commission but have been pretty full time with swords and other bladed things for the last ten or so years.”
He has made many high quality, unique one of a kind custom blades usually selling in the vicinity of $2500 to $5000 and is extremely versatile, able to not only make custom fittings and blades, but also all the rest of the swords furniture, including handles, leather-work, scabbards and every process involved in sword making.
Most of the designs he works on are fantasy pieces based on a solid understanding of how historical swords handled, performed and were constructed – and while beautiful – each sword he makes is 100% fully functional, not mere decorative pieces, but combat ready swords that can be used for cutting practice or sparring as the case may be.
With an eye for detail and a commitment to excellence, Jeffrey’s swords are highly prized and sought after by discerning sword collectors, with all of his swords made at his home studio in Chattahochee Hills, GA .
For our project Jeffrey designed and created the Seraph Aegis using a so called ‘Feathersteel’ (also known as ‘Windsteel’) blade forged by Maser Michael Ye from Forge Direct and mounting it in angelic styled, custom bronze fittings and custom scabbard.
