Cool Links

From links about swords, to sword related fantasy art and some of the coolest resources we used to help build the site and the fantasy world behind it – here is our collection of cool links!

Links about Swords:

Sword Buyers Guide.com

This is the site that this project ‘grew out of’ and is a primer for anyone interested in learning about functional sword replicas – the companies that make them, the vendors who sell them, and the enthusiasts who collect them. Filled with dozens of highly detailed sword reviews and test cutting results in every possible sword type and category, it also has resources for sword making, customization and care and pretty everything a sword collector could possibly want to know about swords!

Links about Sword and Fantasy Art:

Fantasy Gallery.net

It hasn’t been updated since 2016, however it has galleries from pretty much every notable contemporary fantasy artist, and you can lose yourself for hours in this amazing collection of cool art.

Below are some links to handy resources we used when building our world:

Inkarnate.com

Inkarnate is an awesome free map making tool and was used to make our maps of Elatreus. A one time $25 donation allows you to use maps created for commercial purposes.

Fantasy Name Generator

Ever get stuck for a name? Not with this handy resource you won’t be! Thousands upon thousands of names and hundreds of sub menus, never be stuck for a good name again! Caveat: it does sometimes take a few tries to find a GOOD name, but you will get there in the end..

Weapon Creator

A simple yet cool concept, select the components and make a sword or other fantasy weapon. Great for those of you who might have some good ideas, but can’t draw to save your life. made by Emily who also makes the Fantasy name generator.

Make  Your Coat of Arms.com

We didn’t end up using this in the end, but it is a cool way to make original coats of arms using this free software.

Pixabay.com

Pixabay is a vibrant community of creatives, sharing copyright free images and videos. All contents are released under Creative Commons CC0, which makes them safe to use without asking for permission or giving credit to the artist – even for commercial purposes. With some Photoshop magic and the excellent range of pictures they are a fantastic resource for illustrating any tale..
