Making of the Vorpal Sword

The Vorpal Sword was as selected from our pool of sword designs to be made by Blade Culture International


The brass fittings of this sword were perhaps the trickiest part of this longsword design.

To be made by the lost wax casting process, the original shape was created from a wooden carving.

From here, it was cast in solid brass – and as you can see from the picture below – it turned out very nice!

Next up, a matching brass cross guard was created.

Naturally from here, the blade was shaped – all fittings prepared and, viola!

Then everything was disassembled after checking that it all will fit together properly – the scabbard was made up, the blade given a final polish and sharpened up properly – and, well – THIS is what the final result looks like!
